Mice 5/9g PACK of 100 pieces
- Frozen mice 5/9g PACK of 100 pieces
Package: 100 pcs
Weight: 5-9g
Size: 4-5cm
Frozen mice weighing 5-9g are an excellent food source for reptiles, amphibians, birds of prey, and animals fed with the whole prey method (cats, dogs, ferrets). A pack containing 100 frozen mice allows you to save money (it is 15% cheaper compared to a pack of 25 mice weighing 5-9g) and conveniently restock your supplies for a longer period.
Characteristics of 5/9g feeder mice
The weight of the frozen mice in this pack ranges from 5 to 9 grams. The rodents are approximately 4-5 cm in length, covered with fur, and in the transitional stage of switching to solid food. Mice at this stage of development are richer in protein, fat, and vitamin E than smaller-sized mice. Juvenile mice may also have nearly twice the fat content of adult mice (Douglas et al., 1994 / Dierenfeld et al., 1996), making them an excellent food source for growing carnivorous animals with high energy demands.
Applications of frozen 5/9g mice
Frozen 5/9g mice are suitable for a wide range of animals. They are ideal as food for small snake species, such as corn snakes or young royal pythons. They are also a valued component of the diet for carnivorous lizards, monitor lizards, tegus, and birds of prey (owls, hawks, falcons). In a whole prey diet for cats, dogs, and ferrets, mice of this weight range can serve as both a complete meal and a healthy snack.
How to feed animals with frozen mice?
Mice sold in the Raw Petfood store are frozen and packaged in a way that prevents them from sticking together, allowing for easy removal of individual pieces. Each batch is deep-frozen, ensuring nutritional value and feeding safety, but it must be transferred to a freezer immediately upon receiving the shipment.
Before feeding frozen mice to your animal, defrost the required amount in a refrigerator or by submerging them in warm water. We do not recommend using hot water, a microwave, or an oven, as this could damage the structure and quality of the food.
For larger predators, such as large snakes, monitor lizards, or birds of prey, it is recommended to provide several pieces at once, depending on their energy needs. We recommend observing the animals to properly adjust portion sizes according to their age, developmental stage, and overall needs.
