Guinea pig 100-300g
- Snake food: frozen guinea pig 100-300g
Frozen guinea pig weighing 100-300g is a feeder prey suitable for exotic animals such as snakes and birds of prey, as well as for carnivorous mammals (e.g., cats and dogs as whole prey). Guinea pigs, also known as cavies, are medium-sized rodents native to South America, and in their natural habitat, they form an important part of the diet of many predators.
Frozen guinea pig as feeder prey - for which animals?
In the wild, guinea pigs are preyed upon by weasels, cats (e.g., jaguarundi, ocelots, domestic cats), foxes, wolves, coyotes, dogs, eagles, hawks, falcons, kestrels, owls, as well as snakes such as boas, anacondas, and rattlesnakes. Due to their size, young guinea pigs are also targeted by smaller predators.
For this reason, frozen guinea pigs are an excellent element of a whole prey diet for cats, dogs, ferrets, and an interesting alternative to rabbits as feeder prey for snakes, especially pythons and boas. Cavies also provide valuable nutrition for birds of prey, such as eagles, owls, and hawks.
How to prepare frozen guinea pigs for feeding?
Frozen guinea pigs are shipped via courier in thermal packaging secured with dry ice. Most shipments reach customers within 24 hours; however, the products are packed to ensure freshness and remain frozen even in case of delays. Upon receiving the shipment, the product should be promptly placed in the freezer. Before feeding, guinea pigs should be thawed at room temperature or by submerging them in warm water. The product must be fully thawed before feeding. Do not heat feeder prey in a microwave or oven.
