Mice 5-15g 1kg (S-M)
- Frozen mice 5-15g 1kg (S-M)
Package: 1kg
Individual weight: 5-15g
Individual size: 4-7cm
Frozen mice weighing 5-15g are a universal feeder that meets the needs of most predators. The package contains a mix of rodents typically available in sizes S and M (5-9g and 10-15g). Mice in this age group are already fully furred, and their stage of development allows them to be used in the diet of both young and adult carnivorous animals—including snakes, birds, monitor lizards, ferrets, alligators, and caimans. We especially recommend the 5-15g frozen mice package as whole prey for cats. Mice in this weight range are similar in size to a cat's natural prey, making them a biologically appropriate food for cats.
5-15g Frozen Mice as Whole Prey for Cats
Studies on the diet of cats in the natural environment show that their frequent prey are small mammals, including mice weighing from 10 to 20 grams. Mice in the weight range of 5-15g, available in this offer, perfectly replicate the size and nutritional composition of a cat's natural prey. By using whole prey, we don't have to worry about complicated meal balancing—mice provide an optimal amount of protein, fat, vitamins, and minerals, including calcium and phosphorus from bones and taurine, which is an essential component of cats' diets. The one-kilogram package allows for varying the size of mice offered to the cat, thus maintaining diversity in the whole prey diet while supporting natural hunting instincts.
What mice are included in the S-M package?
The mice available in this offer are fully furred and are standardly divided into two size groups:
- Frozen mice 5-9g, measuring about 4-5 cm in length (excluding the tail), which are mice largely already covered with fur, gradually transitioning to solid foods such as grains and pellets.
- Frozen mice 10-15g, measuring 6-7 cm in length (excluding the tail), fully furred, independently consuming solid food, whose way of moving resembles characteristic hopping.
Both weight groups perfectly replicate the size of cats' natural prey, making them an excellent choice for a whole prey diet.
How to serve whole prey mice to cats?
The 5-15g 1kg (S-M) mice are a deep-frozen product, which reaches our customers in a thermally insulated package additionally secured with dry ice. Upon receiving the shipment, frozen mice should be immediately placed in the freezer. Before serving the mice, we recommend thawing the appropriate number of pieces to room temperature.
If the cat is not accustomed to whole prey, it is worth dipping the mouse in warm water or slightly incising it to release the natural scent and encourage the cat to eat. To maintain the natural hunting sequence, it is recommended to offer mice directly after playtime. An adult cat weighing 3kg and of average activity can eat up to 200g of mice per day, but it is best to supplement the diet with other whole prey items: day-old chicks, quails, other feeder rodents. We recommend observing the cat to optimally adjust the amount of food intake to its needs.
