Mice 1-9g (S) 1kg (grade B)
- Frozen mice 1-9g 1kg (grade B)
Package: 1kg
Individual weight: 1-9g
Individual length: 1-5cm
Frozen mice weighing 1-9 grams are the perfect choice for keepers of young and small predators such as snakes, birds of prey, or small lizards. These tiny rodents are also a complete and nutritious food source for carnivorous mammals (cats, dogs, ferrets) and can be served as part of a whole prey diet.
Types of mice in the 1-9g mix
In a package of feeder mice weighing 1-9g, there are rodents from three weight and developmental stages commonly used in our feeder store:
- Mouse newborns (1-2g): The smallest mice, also called pinkies. They weigh 1 to 2 grams and are about 1-3 cm long. They are completely hairless, blind, and lack fur, making them an easy prey item for the smallest predators, such as newly hatched snakes or small lizard species.
- Young feeder mice (3-4g): These rodents weigh between 3 and 4 grams and are approximately 3-4 cm long. At this stage of development, they begin to grow a fine layer of fur but are still not fully covered. They are an excellent food source for young snakes or birds of prey in their growth phase and serve as an intermediate stage between pinkies and adult mice.
- Partially mature feeder mice (5-9g): These mice weigh between 5 and 9 grams and are approximately 4-5 cm long. They are mostly covered in fur, and their development is close to that of adult mice. They are ideal for feeding larger but still young predators such as growing pythons, boas, or larger lizards like monitor lizards.
A mix containing all three types of mice in one package allows for an economical purchase for groups of animals and ensures a variety of sizes and textures for their diet.
Why is it labeled "Grade B"?
Frozen mice labeled as Grade B are the best way to provide affordable high-quality feeder mice. These mice may have minor visual imperfections such as traces of blood or small defects that do not affect their nutritional value. The low price of this feeder type makes Grade B mice a very practical choice for breeders and keepers of many animals requiring regular feeding. Our kilogram packages are particularly appreciated by keepers of animals with high caloric needs, such as growing monitor lizards and snakes.
Frozen Grade B mice - for which animals?
Feeder mice of Grade B in this size range are best suited as food for:
- Young snakes learning to feed independently (corn snakes, young royal pythons, boa constrictors).
- Lizard species that benefit from a varied diet including small rodents (bearded dragons, blue-tongue skinks, Argentine tegus).
- Birds of prey, including falcons, owls, and hawks, which require lightweight, easy-to-eat food.
- Ferrets and cats, which benefit from whole prey diets providing all necessary nutrients in the most natural form.
How to serve frozen Grade B mice?
Before feeding, mice should be thawed to room temperature. To make the meal more appealing, you can immerse them in warm water or slightly cut them to release natural scents. It is not recommended to microwave, bake, or cook the feeder mice. The product should be stored in a freezer, and only the needed amount should be thawed for each feeding. Mice are flash-frozen, ensuring they do not stick together, making it easy to remove individual pieces.
When handling raw food, it is advised to maintain standard hygiene practices, just as with any other raw meat.
